TODAY IS A BIG DAY FOR US!!!!! WE ALMOST HAVE 50 LIKES ON OUR FACEBOOK PAGE!!! 50!!!! WOOHOO!!! Right now we are both so filled with emotion that I don't even know if what I'm about to say will sound coherent or not but please try to follow!!!
Ok, so a couple of months ago, Faith and I decided that we wanted to pray for this ministry together, so the plan was to pray together everytime we saw each other. Somehow, that didn't happen, we would hang out and see each other at church but we totally forgot to pray about this. Well two things happened recently: 1) I'm going to college soon, I'm moving on and I've been really thinking about my life and my plans and I have truly decided that Rise Above It is something that I want to take really far, I want this ministry to go places and maybe make it an actual organization or something, I don't know how things are going to play out because at the end of the day, this ministry truly belongs to God and His will be done, but I have decided that my career and my college major will be determined by how they can be used towards this ministry. 2) Yesterday Faith and I got news of one of her friends, this is a girl she met online and she tried committing suicide and she's in the hospital right now (so please pray for her) and she's so alone that only her best friend is with her, her family doesn't even visit her. That shook both of us. A lot.
About a week ago Faith and I started committing more to praying for our ministry everytime we meet and yesterday woke us up. You see God works in mysterious ways, yes, He answered our prayers, we got more facebook likes and more views on the website today than any other day in the history of Rise Above It, but also, He woke us up, He had to shake us somehow, He used this girl's story to motivate us. I can tell you that I have let the stress of life take over me and I have neglected this ministry at times. Hearing about this girl and the fact that she tried to kill herself has really given me energy, it has pumped both Faith and I to do more with this ministry, to get more followers, to try to advertise this. We want to help people so badly! I can tell you that even if I read the entire bible 50 times, I am NEVER going to understand the mystery of God's ways. This girl that I have never even met in my life has inspired me to keep going strong with this. And God has really given me a new appreciation for prayer, this is what He wanted, He wanted us to truly commit to putting our faith in Him. I am in awe, seriously in awe of what He's doing right now.
If you are reading this right now, then thank you so much for reading, thank you so much for caring about what two teenage girls with a passion for helping others have to say. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. And if you are reading this, please know, you don't have to be intelligent, or strong, or perfect to be a hero, you just have to be you, because we can all be heroes, we just have to choose to be the hero, we have to choose courage and not fear. This girl in the hospital right now, she's my hero, because she's probably so broken and hurting so much and yet, she's making progress in the hospital. Her best friend that has been with her that entire time is my hero, because her main priority right now is her best friend and she's doing everything in her power for her to feel LOVED.
Never underestimate the power of a prayer, even if it's a small prayer. And if things in your life are messy and you can't understand what's going on, when in doubt, always remember that it means God is at work.
And please, please never forget this: A random act of kindness, a slight form of affection is NEVER meaningless. Even if it's not appreciated at the moment, it is worth it. Just because people don't see how much love was displayed at the cross, it doesn't mean that the sacrifice of Christ was in vain.
Be someone else's hero, and if Christ is YOUR hero, then make sure they know who was the one that saved you.
God bless.
